Engaging employees in their prevention: a shared ambition with Coven
Do you know the number of recognized workplace accidents in 2019? At Coven, a company specialized in promoting workplace risk prevention, they know it well: 2019 saw 650,715 workplace accidents. And the figures related to MSDs don’t look any better, as they hold the top spot on the podium of occupational diseases in France.
This is too much. It’s more than urgent to act. Risks must be prevented before it’s too late. In fact, we are convinced: by optimizing the educational scope of prevention actions, we bring about real impact and genuine results.
That’s why we’ve formed an innovative partnership with Coven, driven by a common goal: adapting preventive educational actions to the reality of daily work. We’ll tell you more about it in this article… Let’s get started!
Why Engage Employees in Risk Prevention?
Operators: Primary Stakeholders in Occupational Risks
Promoting engagement among all operators is one of the main challenges companies must address.
Indeed, they are the primary stakeholders in occupational risks and MSDs. Pain, disability, reduced motor skills, and – for some – professional disengagement: they are the ones who bear the full brunt of the physical consequences.
Through a safety culture, operators can become fully engaged in the prevention process.
Unfortunately, while prevention solutions continue to innovate to meet the needs of prevention specialists, material and technical means alone are not sufficient.
They do not foster a safety culture.
Definition
What is a safety culture? It’s a culture that is built every day, through a set of actions and principles that contribute to the safety of a company’s employees.
To establish and foster it, companies can seek assistance. Organizations like Coven offer innovative and impactful solutions to businesses. In fact, at Coven, they stage the safety culture. By making these prevention moments memorable, they ensure that the messages delivered daily by the company are deeply ingrained.
Taking Action to Prevent Occupational Risks
Practice retaining and learn this is Coven’s conviction. Driven by the desire to offer a new approach to prevention, their teams have developed QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment) training and activities focused on action. They apply what they call the “learning by doing” method or action-based pedagogy, placing the employee at the center of their learning.
«“The playful aspect must be present without being infantilizing and should generate enthusiasm that captures the audience’s attention,” explains Julie Cutillas, founder of Coven.
That’s why they assist their clients in constructing and deploying participative messages to break the codes of top-down messaging and promote cross-communication.
The goal of their unique workshops is to present prevention in a different light to ensure engagement and cohesion among the operators of businesses.
Preventing MSD Risks and Raising Awareness: The Strong Ambition of the Partnership between Moovency and Coven
True to its name, which means “being together, gathering” in Scottish, and always seeking innovative solutions, Coven has joined forces with Moovency and its KIMEA tool to forge a strong partnership. The goal? To create new professional synergies with the support of the innovative technology offered by KIMEA Lite.
MSDs: The Crux of the Matter
Given the evolving statistics related to MSDs, Coven sought to collaborate with experts in the field to offer a workshop that better engages participants and therefore impacts them more deeply.
Indeed, MSDs represent the leading cause of compensated occupational diseases, accounting for 88% of recognized occupational diseases under the general scheme. There were 44,492 cases in 2019 alone. They are also the reason for one out of every three work absences. For operators, MSDs often result in irreversible damage to their physical health. And for companies, they represent a significant expense that can limit their competitiveness.
The cross-fertilization of Coven’s animation and training practices with our solutions – particularly KIMEA Lite – enables the development of a concrete and impactful offering for preventing and raising awareness about MSD risks, meeting the expectations of businesses.
KIMEA Lite: Real-time Visualization of MSD Risks
Before delving further, let’s take a moment to focus on KIMEA Lite, our tool for quantifying the physical risks of MSDs. Because to effectively prevent MSDs, it’s necessary to understand their origins. Evaluating biomechanical constraints allows for a better analysis of risks.

With KIMEA Lite, prevention specialists are equipped with a depth camera and connected gloves that they can place on operators. Capturing their movements through the camera allows for the recreation of their 3D or 2D skeletons… and all in real-time.
The tool also displays joint and overall risk scores, derived from the RULA method. The collected data is reliable and scientifically validated.
KIMEA Lite is a solution that proves useful in organizing awareness days on MSDs, as well as in comprehensive prevention initiatives.
Going Further
KIMEA Lite also enables prevention specialists to anticipate MSD risks through the KIMEA VR module. Using 3D models, operators are immersed in their future workstations… This allows for the validation of adjustments, ensuring they are risk-free!
How to engage employees in their professional risk prevention?
Tailored offers, adapted to companies’ challenges
Coven offers a kaleidoscope of “wow effect” workshops with expert foundations (Escape games, Prevention wall, Prevention course, interactive workshop, etc.).
The objective? To capture the attention of operators with innovative and educational solutions to generate adherence and engagement.
“The issues can vary depending on the sectors and the maturity of the company’s safety culture. To provide a tailored response adapted to each context, all our clients are in contact with our prevention service to customize the messages,” adds Julie Cutillas.
TMS prevention workshops using KIMEA Lite
When it comes to engaging employees in the prevention of their MSD risks, Coven responded with the KIMEA Lite solution. With this tool, Coven captures participants’ attention and illustrates in a highly articulate manner the impact of their daily postures on the onset of MSDs. That’s why their workshop revolves around this technical solution. Visualizing the direct impact of their postures allows participants to project themselves very concretely.
To be more specific, let’s see how the “MSD Prevention” workshop is structured.
- Firstly, a theoretical input on the causes and factors of MSD development is essential. It is crucial to highlight the multiple factors involved and emphasize the crucial role of all employees in a structure.
- Next, the workshop presents several situations in front of KIMEA Lite: allowing participants to reproduce their daily gestures and thus visualize the immediate impact on their own bodies, nothing better to generate discussion! Participants then collectively seek solutions (human, organizational, technical, individual, and/or collective) to reduce this exposure.
- And finally, a report is sent to the contracting authority. Coven’s objective is to provide tools to continue the exchanges and reflections initiated during the workshop.
