Equipment operators are among the occupations particularly at risk due to prolonged exposure to vibrations and postural constraints.<span aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"PDq2pG_selectionAnchor\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"447\" data-end=\"596\">Between vibrations, uneven ground conditions, and long hours spent in the cab, physical stresses can accumulate and have lasting effects on health.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"601\" data-end=\"724\">How do these constraints affect the body? What are the associated risks, and what prevention measures can help reduce them?<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section><section class=\"l-section wpb_row height_medium\"><div class=\"l-section-h i-cf\"><div class=\"g-cols vc_row via_flex valign_top type_default stacking_default\"><div class=\"vc_col-sm-12 wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><div class=\"wpb_text_column\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><h2 class=\"PDq2pG_selectionAnchorContainer\" data-section-id=\"1hw1h1q\" data-start=\"150\" data-end=\"203\"><span role=\"text\"><strong data-start=\"153\" data-end=\"203\">Vibrations:<\/strong> what are we talking about?<\/span><span aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"PDq2pG_selectionAnchor\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"205\" data-end=\"508\">In the construction industry, many types of equipment generate <strong data-start=\"268\" data-end=\"293\">mechanical vibrations<\/strong>, defined as oscillations transmitted to the human body when in contact with a machine, tool, or vehicle. This transmission can occur through the hands, feet, or, in the case of equipment operators, through the cab.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"510\" data-end=\"558\">Two main types of exposure can be distinguished:<\/p>\n<h4 data-section-id=\"8p8pkx\" data-start=\"560\" data-end=\"619\"><em><span role=\"text\"><strong data-start=\"564\" data-end=\"619\">1. Hand-arm vibrations (hand-guided portable tools)<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/h4>\n<p data-start=\"621\" data-end=\"721\">These occur when using portable tools such as jackhammers, grinders, rammers, and concrete breakers.<\/p>\n<h4 data-section-id=\"1eyv7yq\" data-start=\"723\" data-end=\"789\"><em><span role=\"text\"><strong data-start=\"727\" data-end=\"789\">2. Whole-body vibrations (vehicle and equipment operation)<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/h4>\n<p data-start=\"791\" data-end=\"1099\">These mainly affect construction equipment operators (excavators, loaders, bulldozers, compactors, dumpers, etc.). These movements become even more damaging to the back when vibration intensity is high or when shocks occur.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"789\" data-end=\"985\">This combined exposure \u2014 to both vibrations and postural constraints \u2014 partly explains why equipment operators have a particularly high risk of developing low back pain and other spinal disorders.<\/p>\n<p data-section-id=\"l9ck52\" data-start=\"987\" data-end=\"1059\"><strong><span role=\"text\">The conditions most commonly associated with equipment operation:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p
